Larvaciding Oils

Larviciding Oils are highly refined mineral oils used for the control of mosquito larvae and pupae. When applied evenly over the water surface it rapidly interrupts the air/water interface and suffocates the larvae or pupae. This quick action makes it an effective larvicide and pupacide for any program.

A significant advantage is that mosquitoes cannot develop resistance to larviciding oil because control is through a physical mode of action. Another advantage of the physical mode of action is itseffectiveness on all mosquito species.

A variety of factors including weather conditions (e.g., wind direction, wind speed, temperature, and relative humidity) and method of application (e.g., handgun, handwand, and aerial) can influence larviciding oil drift. The applicator must evaluate all factors and make appropriate adjustments when applying these products.
